Help wanted!

Tuesday 29 March 2011: The Somerset LINk is re-launching our Stewardship Group and setting up a PrioritiesPanel to set the work of the LINk for our 'transition year'.

The Local Involvement Networks will be turning into Local HealthWatches in 2012 as part of the government’s plans to reform health and social care.

That means that the Somerset LINk will be turning into Somerset Healthwatch. Volunteers are needed to guide in this transition year, to join our Stewardship Group and to join our Priorities Panel.

Stewardship Group

  • Oversees the Somerset LINk.
  • Around 12 members

The Stewardship Group oversees the organisation and makes decisions about governance.

Priorities Panel

  • Decides on the work of the LINk.
  • Around 12 members

Our Priorities Panel will be our big new drive in 2011: it will be a group of committed Somerset people who will help the LINk make decisions about what work is done during the year. The Priorities Panel will form working groups looking at specific areas of health and social care in Somerset (such as hospitals or Quality Accounts).

Enter & View

  • Meets when required for Enter & View activities.
  • Initial training will be given.
  • Enter & View team can comprise between 2 - 8 members from pool of around 15 - 20 volunteers.

We are also seeking people who are willing to join our ‘Enter & View’ team, who visit and report on care services in Somerset.

How will volunteers be chosen?

Interested volunteers will all be invited to attend an informal Selection Event on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at St. John Ambulance Headquarters in Bridgwater. There will be two selection events, one at 5pm and one at 7pm. All volunteers will be assessed by a Selection Panel of four people from the voluntary sector in Somerset.
