Link Legacy Report

 

  Feb 2013  

This is the story and impact of the Slough Local Involvement Network (LINk). It captures the benefits, learning and achievements that the LINk will pass on when it ceases to exist as a staturory network in April 2013. The report is part of the handover to the new consumer champion Healthwatch Slough. It captures key lessons for the future and knowledge of local people who have been involved in the LINk at all levels

 

NHS Dentist patient information

 

  Feb 2013  

Berkshire Local Involvement Networks (LINks) Report Reviewing Information for NHS Dental Patients 2012.  We understand that this report will go the next Dental Commissioning Group Meeting on 20th March 2013.  Following that meeting we very much look forward to the NHS Berkshire formal response to the recommendations made within the report.

 

Patient access to GP appointments

 

  Dec 2012   To build an accurate understanding across Slough, the LINK conducted a survey to collate information to establish ways to improve the GP booking system. We received over 300 completed surveys and over 400 patient comments.

Sensory needs services in Slough

 

  Nov 2012   Over the past couple of months the Slough LINk have been gathering information on what sensory services people are able to access and how this impacts on their daily lives, we met with the Council and key stakeholders to discuss services going forward

  Sep 2012   Following on from last years survey, we held a number of focus groups with service users, family members, carers and support workers to hear their views about personal budgets in Slough

Stakholder Review

 

  Sep 2012   Stakeholder Review held on August 2012 provided an opportunity for local people to see if the LINk has done what it said it would do and was set up to achieve.

Protected Meal Time Audit   Dec 2011  

Slough LINk have conducted ward visits over a number of months in order to evaluate protected meal times and patient nutrition. The report contains findings, recommendations for improvement and other patient feedback around general care issues.

 

Personal Budget Survey   Nov 2011  

Slough LINk have conducted a survey for recipients of Personal Care Budgets in Slough, following the a similar survey conducted in 2010. This year's survey asked more questions and received far more responses. The findings have provided some areas for the council to consider. More work will be conducted in 2012 to imporve the support for those receiving Personal Budgets as a result of this report

 

Means of Development and Survival "Childcare Needs and Family Wellbeing"

 

  Mar 2011   As part of the 2011 Community Chest Fund, Means of Development and Survival carriend out some research around the needs of parents visiting the Job Centre. The aim of the report was to explore what job seekers with children believed to be the impact of unemployment on health and well-being.
Berkshire Women's Aid 2011 Health Attitudes Survey   Mar 2011  

As part of the Community Chest Fund residents that lived in a local refuge were involved in some reserch that offers insight into the relationship between the victims of domestic abuse and the health support they have accessed, if any. It also provides us with a greater understanding of victims’ experiences when taking children to medical services.

 

 

Alzheimers Cafe Consultation Report

 

  Feb 2011   As part of the Community Chest, Slough Alzheimer's undertook some research to establish the need for a Dementia Café in Slough. A questionnaire was devised and sent to 450 addresses. 
Personal Budget Survey   Feb 2011  

The Slough Link, over the summer of 2010, have received a number of comments and queries about self directed support in Slough.  In order to try and understand the impact that personal budgets were having the LINk conducted a personal budget survey on services users undertaking the pilot scheme in Slough.  The survey was designed to gauge what changes or influences personal budgets had on service user’s lives, choices and the care they received.

 

Youth LINk Survey and Focus Group   Jan 2011   The Youth LINk is an attempt to engage specifically with a section of society that does not usually participate in traditional forms of communication on health, well-being and social issues affecting their lives. This project meant the LINk could focus purely on the younger population of Slough, increase our knowledge of issues affecting young people and potentially increase our younger membership.

 

Eye Care for Diabetics   Jan 2011   Part of the Slough age friendly project

  Oct 2010  

The aim of this study was to;

  • Ensure that practice procedures and regulations were well communicated to patients
  • Determine the accessibility of booking appointments in Slough
  • Investigate any potential physical barriers to visiting a practice
  • Determine whether patients believe their practice staff and doctors are professional, courteous and sympathetic to needs/concerns.

 

Working Well   Sept 2010  

The Slough LINk have been supporting Slough Business and Community Partnership (SBCP), along with other partners, to undertake an initiative in Slough to promote health and well-being at work. Workplace well-being is especially important in a town that is home to Europe's largest trading estate, housing 400 companies that employ 17,000 people. As well as this Slough has a thriving commercial and retail hub outside its trading estate.

Since 2004 SBCP has worked with the Centre for Workforce Development at Thames Valley University on a number of occasions to raise the issues of work-based health with its members, with varying degrees of success.

Effects of Khat on Somali men in Slough

 

  Aug 2010   The Slough LINk and Daryeel, the Somali Women's organisation, decided to run a
project, aimed at educating Somali men and women about the risks involved in
chewing Khat. The aim was to influence the users and the Somali community as a
whole about the risks associated with Khat.

Age Friendly Slough

 

  Dec 2009   The aim of this project was to find out how "age friendly" Slough is when it comes to transport, public spaces and access.
