Adult Social Care Report

ASC Report In your own hands........
Achievements and Challenges in the move towards Personalisation

In spring, 2011 the Isle of Wight LINk compiled its Workplan for the year ahead. A public prioritisation exercise took place, to decide which topics to look at. Adult Social Care was the topic that came out most strongly, so this was taken up first.

In July 2011 a Workplan Group was set up to explore the topic. The group was made up of volunteer participants, and the aim was to produce a report after six months. Workplan Group members came from local social
care interest groups. The Workplan group concentrated on the introduction of personalisation, which was central to all other changes to Adult Social Care.

This report traces the way the Workplan group looked at personalisation. This was done from the standpoint of those receiving social care services on the Island. Positive progress by the IWC and instances of good practice are
recognised. It examines misgivings voiced by recipients and providers and traces how these were explored by the LINk Workplan Group. Towards the end, it draws conclusions on what was found. Finally, recommendations are
made about how to build on positive practice and enhance access to information, advice and support.
