How To Find a Dentist on the Isle of Wight
|
It can be difficult to find a new dentist, especially on the Isle of Wight where we have the barrier of water between us and more options on the mainland.
So, how can you find a dentist that is accepting new patients, and how can you quickly learn whether they are taking on under 18s if you need this service, or if they are only taking on under 18s if this isn't what you're after?
There are two options:
|
- There is an NHS website called Hampshire Dental Helpline, which will give you the information you need when you enter your postcode.
- You can also access the helpline by calling 0845 050 8345. This service covers the whole of Hampshire and is available from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
One word of caution though - you can sometimes find you are being offered places on the mainland, as they are nearer to your home 'as the crow flies', where there are other options available on the Island that are theoretically further away from where you live but easier to reach.
The helpline can also make urgent appointments if you are in pain, but don't have a dentist. The Emergency Dental Service is available via the same phone number and operates from Monday to Friday between 5.30pm and 9.30pm offering advice, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 8.00am and 9.30pm offering help, advice and emergency treatment if you need it.
