Meet Terri Baker
We like to get to know all of our active LINk members, so we asked Terri if she'd answer a few questions for us...
What's your background?
"I have worked in the Voluntary Sector/ Public and Statutory Sector for many years, supporting people in various ways. I have been a Youth Worker and have supported young people in having a voice and them being included in decision making processes; I developed the IOW Council's Participation Strategy for Children and Young People. I set up the West Wight Information Centre, working with many support organisations to enable them to hold surgeries in the West of the Island and more recently rolled out the Common Assessment Framework process, working with Children’s Services and families so that they can access preventative services in a co-ordinated way then moved onto working the Child Protection and Co-ordinating the team around the family."
What would you say are the LINk's priorities for 2012?
"LINk has worked hard to look at areas of concern and I am involved in the GP Workplan Group. It is essential to ensure that the initial work carried out by the LINk is used to prioritise the future Healthwatch and that it is not lost in the transition process."
What's the best thing about being a member of the LINk?
"In my role as Manager for the User Led Organisation, People Matter IW it has made good links between the two organisations and whilst we have similar but different agendas I feel that I can support the LINk with my knowledge and skills and vice versa."
Do you have any hobbies?
"I enjoy looking after my home, pets, walking and camping. Outdoors is always better than being indoors."
