How the LINk got involved

Bournemouth LINk received a number of concerns from local people about the proposed changes to self directed support / personal budgets - so we've carried out a project looking into this in more detail.

The LINk decided to undertake a project to fully investigate what action the local authority had taken in this respect. This was, therefore, added to the LINk work plan in December 2010.

Recommendations:

  1. That Bournemouth Borough Council ensures that there is sufficient advocacy support in place for persons who are completing the paperwork for either transfer or new applicants, for Self-Directed Support.
  2. That the Borough provides open and accessible information (in all formats) so that people are able to have true choice in how they use their funding allocation.
  3. Bournemouth Council produces measurable targets; action plans and milestones to ensure that everyone that is eligible is receiving a Personal Budget by 2012-13.
